A Tractor Dealer Who Still Believes in Shaking Hands
I’m Steve Lucich, owner of Tan Oak Tractor Sales. I’ve lived and worked on the Central Coast for decades ~ and I started this business the old-fashioned way: by helping people get the right equipment, even if it meant driving out to their property, walking the land, and taking the time to listen.
“I started by buying and selling equipment as a hobby. Then in 2016, I met the LS Tractor folks at the Tulare Farm Show. They needed a dealer for the Central Coast. I jumped in and never looked back."
From Hobby to Full-Time Calling
Before this, I had a full-time job. But selling equipment was something I loved doing on the side ~ buying it, fixing it, and getting it into the hands of someone who’d put it to work. That hobby turned into Tan Oak Tractor Sales.
Now, this is what I do full-time ~ with my wife Barbara by my side. She even rides along on tractor deliveries. This is a family-run business, built on hard work and relationships.
What Drives This Business
We don’t sell tractors by the dozens each week. That’s not the model. This is a one-man operation and that’s what makes it personal.
“Some customers just call to talk. That’s the part I enjoy. I’ve had people come back years later not just for more equipment, but because they trust me."
You don’t need to be a commercial farmer to work with us. Most of our customers are families with 1 to 10 acres. Some are restoring old farmsteads, others are running vineyards or managing fire-safe properties. Every situation is different ~ and I help match the equipment to the need.

We offer LS Tractors because they’re reliable, user-friendly, and affordable. But more important than the tractor itself is the guidance you get when you buy one.
“I’ve turned customers away if I thought they were buying something unsafe or unnecessary. That’s not a sale I want."
That’s the difference here. I don’t just drop off the tractor. I’ll walk your land with you, answer your questions, and make sure the attachments and implements actually fit your needs. That’s what builds trust ~ and that’s why people come back.
Rooted in the Central Coast
This isn’t just a service area. This is home. We’re based in Templeton and serve the full Central Coast region, including Paso Robles, Santa Margarita, Atascadero, San Luis Obispo, Nipomo, Santa Maria, and as far as Hollister and Santa Barbara.
“I’ve delivered tractors with bows and balloons. I’ve delivered in the rain, on dirt roads, and in the backcountry. If it’s in this region, I’ll get there."
